Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Cast and Release Revealed

The fourth Sonic the Hedgehog film is speeding toward theaters, bringing back familiar voices along with new cast members. Ben Schwartz returns as Sonic, joined again by Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, Keanu Reeves as Shadow, and Idris Elba as Knuckles. They will be alongside James Marsden's Tom Wachowski.

New additions include Nick Offerman, who worked with Schwartz on Parks and Recreation, though his role is undisclosed. The cast also features Ben Kingsley, Matt Berry, Richard Ayoade, and Kristen Bell—the latter voicing Amy Rose after appearing in the previous film's credits scene.

Since its 2020 debut, the Sonic film series has grown into a major success, with the 2024 installment earning nearly $500 million globally. This follows early backlash over Sonic's initial design, which was altered before release after fan feedback.

Carrey returns despite having suggested retirement in 2022, marking his continued involvement in the franchise.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is scheduled to arrive in theaters on March 19, 2027.
